STANZA 1
THE NIGHT OF THE UNIVERSE,
The unmanifest or sleep-state of manifestation Subject and object, the inner and outer of my incarnating self and its hyper sensitivity to the ocean of the space-time-continuum, which knows neither beginning or end.
All the knowledge of the Ages comes to nothing if it is not absorbed by my inner self, where it can be digested and absorbed by feelings and thoughts seeking wisdom, active in unconditioned love, which has nothing to do with forgiveness but is everything to my free spirit’s will and power, whose mask, the personality, is a fleeting appearance of my self-conscious growth.
In my child-like thinking my father is eternity, space my mother my individual or inner self, the child.,self-conscious growth
expressed in time, space and beyond.
Duration is the world of emanation, creation the world of the twin, soul and mind, children of the universe expanding.. I am the seed in the world of creation, growing in self-awareness in the world of formation, active in and out of manifestation, which I am the child of, the ALL within the ONE..
I am that, my spirit-self, soul-transforming power, seed of the great unknown, taking root in the ways of the unfolding mind, archetype of life on earth, active in the four elements of fire, air, water and land.
I am that, subjective objective breath existential life, self-conscious growth
in and out of manifestation.
STANZA 2.
The idea of differentiation, father-mother and child, the trinity
manifestation in being with space the father, time the mother,
the inner self, the child revelation of the unknown,whose foundation is the;
I am that, father-mother and child, the macrocosm revealing itself in the microcosm.
Since the days of Atlantis Individuals have been taught how to program the mind.how to achieve psychic powers, how to use instinct and the intellect as a tool to manipulate natural forces and dominate physical matter at the expense of inner growth.
That is the beginning of Armageddon, spirit will and power fading away, the soul lost in the deserts of the mind, the worship of the mask disintegrates karma revenge in power, the door to eternity shuts and Man the measure of all things is lost in space, and darkness reigns.
To get a clearer picture, It is the spirit-spark interacting with soul-transforming powers, that unfold into an awareness, instrumental,to the law of karma seeking dynamic equilibration with the evolutionary powers of spirit and matter.
The meaning and purpose of self-awareness asks for unity not separation, but a global acceptance of cultural differentiating in appearance, language and customs accept that genetically we are Homo-Sapiens, uncoiling serpents of wisdom, revelation of unconditioned love, eternity in being.
Evolution is life and life is what we make of it,Ancient wisdom teachings insists it is spirit mounting the cross of matter making rebirth a possibility…
STANZA 3.
The physical universe is but a concrete reflection of what happens behind the appearance, which is free born man’s choice to grow or disintegrate.
Within the core, womb of self-conscious growth, the inner self, not unlike the power (Kundalini) slowly rising towards life-form expressions from the physical to the solar and galactic states of life-conscious evolution.
Theosophy is like an ocean of knowledge, which spreads from shore to shore, of the evolution of sentient beings; unfathomable in its deepest parts,it gives the mind its fullest scope.
Feeling without understanding is a waste of energy. Thinking without action is a waste of time. Knowledge without experience is a lie. I ask myself;
Do I individually have the courage to contribute
to the intricate workings of the nature of the web of life in my individual self-conscious right, point of light within darkest matter.
Wisdom asserts that there must be beings in the universe whose intelligence is as much beyond ours, as ours exceeds that of the black beetle and who takes an active part in the government of Nature’s order of things.
Unless human intelligence strives towards wholeness awareness,
it is beneath the intelligence of a black beetle
which is subjective-instinctive, wise in force and form
not pretending to be anything but what it is,
animal instinct and behavior
unlike human intelligence priding itself to be
high above the kingdoms on earth,
yet clinging to it for dear life.
It is not your body that counts in an incarnation but your heart, mind, soul and spirit-conscious Individuality, burning bright in darkest matter.
Time disperses , space embraces, between the two, self-awareness grows.
STANZA 4.
I perceive evolution as eternity, running through the tunnels of time towards the spiral universe, my psyche objectified by the intellect, acts as
a formative bridging consciousness,
What of my heart?… It pulsates throughout the world of manifestation.
What of my mind?… It is the builder creator of forms.
What of my soul.?.. It is solar born, intuition in action. What of my free spirit within?… It is free will and power to be or not to be.
helped by creative imagination, and the intuition.
I Am the Caduceus, a concrete symbol of the integration of the elements. Through the rooting of homo-sapiens
active intelligence, the unfolding mind,
the sentient being is born to become
bridge builder between spirit and matter.
What of my free spirit within?… It is free will and power to be or not to be.
My understanding of it is; that Spirit, the life-force and matter its formative builder, is the father-mother and child of worlds,in and out of manifestation.
My incarnations into space and time,I perceive as the intercourse of
spirit, the life-force as father
the soul impregnator of matter,
mind-unfolding intelligence in action
foundation of the involution-evolution
of self-awareness implying;
I am the all within the one.The races to me are part and parcel of the cyclic law of Nature. The inner revealed in the outer, existence reaching out through and all around me.It unites not separates, all things within space, time and beyond.
Wholeness awareness is my devotion,
It does not compartmentalise,
but grows according to the law of karma
to evolve to take root, grow and bring fruit
it is duration, eternity in being.
What of my heart?… It pulsates throughout the world of manifestation.
What of my mind?… It is the builder creator of forms.
What of my soul.?.. It is solar born, intuition in action.
STANZA 5.
Within the circumference of creative potential whose core is eternity in being, self-conscious growth aligned to the free spirit within, nourishing an Individual’s heart, mind and soul, to mediate between all that which separates, so that life-conscious evolution may take place.
I am the child of spirit and matter, two opposites meant to be in dynamic equilibrium.
In physical terms; the Earth is my mother,
the sky my father with Nature teaching me
how to survive the money grabbing
addictions of the fourth kingdom on earth.
Mankind, is meant to be the bridge builder
over the gulf between involution and evolution,
the peace-maker between spirit and matter.
The Piscean age sought transformation which is mind-born. The age of Aquarius seeks transcendence, which is soul-born.
A leap of consciousness is needed if mankind is to survive Aquarius,
an age of change and transition. Soul-awareness paves the way towards a dynamic equilibrium between the known and yet unknown,
that which is and that which is yet to come.
All I need to be aware of at any moment in time
is to conceive of my incarnating Self
seeking wholeness awareness, opening eye of
the free spirit within, adjusting to my soul’s transcendental energies,
working spontaneously, not systematically
towards the balance of the way, of spirit and matter.
If I trust my creative potential, no matter how difficult and challenging,
it remains the key to my ‘truth of being’, slowly imperceptibly evolving
beyond the established order of things. At that point I am at peace in the midst of warring forces.
STANZA 6
Mathematics is the purest language on this level.
Mother-Father and Child, the three in one,
telling the story of Space, Time whose circumference
a trinity that knows neither beginning or end
whose mask is the persona, the small mind
conditioned to overwhelming feelings and thoughts,
ideas clinging to ideologies, religious fanatical,
all flaws in genetic codes and its dictation.
Yet my spirit is free to evolve by putting
its will and power behind the fullness of time
opening up to change which is
the overwhelming law of manifestation.
The fiery breath of my spirit touches the mother,
the omnipresence of space, reflected light of life on earth, ‘fohat’, the father, spirit will and power impregnating matter, mother of form,
I am the child of spirit and matter, bridge builder between darkness and light.
I, the seed, the root, growth and the ripened fruit
From the One to the Many.
Wholeness awareness is my sword
the imperishable cause, spirit will and power,
survives the spinning wheel. Open your eyes oh student of life, wholeness awareness is self-knowledge . You are the seed, the root, growth and the fruit in the march of time. Take wing and fly towards that which is nothing, yet all things within the ONE.
STANZA 7.
Life is the law of eternity.
In manifestation it is Truth
point within the world of emanation
power of the seed of creative potential,
activation in the world of formation
growing in wisdom and unconditioned love.
I evolve as the archetypal force of life on earth.
My sevenfold journey
through space and time.
Where soul intent strikes the hour
of freedom of choice
to be enslaved or to free myself from
a world steeped in gold and glitter
where fame and recognition stops the wheel
of transformation,
the soul suffocating in the strangle-hold
of narcissistic mind power games,
mankind in opposition with each other,
devastating to planetary life
has got a choice;
to be enslaved or to free themselves.
The choice is individual, its secret is
self-knowledge in manifestation
emanation-creation of the seed-root
life-conscious evolution, which is
without beginning or end.
My inner self is a child eternally
death is transcendental energies,
seed-call of the father
to be born and reborn to the mother
the space-time-continuum,
child of evolution, self-conscious growth,
beyond the seen and known
where Duration embraces the All.
,
Eternal is my spirit, enduring my soul, my individual or inner self root of transcendental energies to grow from the tiniest atom to the furthest galaxy I am life, change ever lasting. Emanation-creation-formation and action, in and out of manifestation.
Comments.
This is where I can’t help but see Theosophy as an Ideology whether in religious or scientific terms.
Humanity, as I know it, is forever cutting itself off from its soul, because the soul to me simply represents self-awareness that takes the initiative of responsibility to life on all its levels.
It lives beyond and carries on despite any philosophical movements.
The soul, spirit driven, brings creative potential, power of fire to the unfolding mind, right down to physical matter.
Comment:
Great names do not live, an incarnation for me is but a fleeting appearance at midnight.
I am life in physical form endowed with power over the space-time-continuum.
To be human has a meaning of all embracing will to know life as an experience, growing from the physical atom to the ethers of space and the expanding universe, which cannot be explained but only felt.
Acquisition or education can never replace self-conscious growth, which is an inner unfolding experience, needing no words.
Beyond the heart of creation, my feeling and thinking intelligence, seeks to evolve beyond and experience evolving according to individual, planetary and solar karma. Potentiality is not a gift to be processed, but to be lived and practiced wholeheartedly on inner and outer levels and in the midst of endowed Mahatma powers and common everyday life.
Just as there are periodical minor cataclysms or partial destructions, so as the doctrine holds, there is the universal evolution and involution. Forever the great breath goes forth and returns again. As it proceeds outwards, objects, worlds and men appear; as it recedes all disappear into the original source
Comment:
“What I see is not what I know”. All is energy. Destruction either partial or full on, cannot be unless human free will and choice detaches itself from its origin. The metaphor of the circle without the point in the middle is a thought to be considered here. To reach towards the heights should not deter one to stay involved with simple life struggling to evolve. The rounds, chains and globes are but sign-posts towards the practical application, not towards perfection, but not to return to the source empty handed.
The teachings of Theosophy deal for the present chiefly with our earth.
Comment:
Something does not feel right. The Earth as an entity in its own right is not ours to deal with as we will; to treat incarnations according to a job well done and then move on for better things to come. Esoteric initiations, as well as academic education are a process of earning ‘brownie points’. Life to me is not so much an education, but an intercommunication of levels and spheres revealing the inter relatedness of all living things. To become aware of what lives around and through me brings me nearer Nature, while at the same time I grow into an ever deeper understanding of her workings. It comes through trial and error of living experiences which gives a passing glimpse of what is happening behind the appearance.
:
Our globe being one of the solar system is certainly connected with Venus, Jupiter and other planets, but as the great human family has to remain with its material vehicle -the earth- until all the units of the race which are ready, are perfected. The evolution of that family is of a greater importance to the members of it.
Comment:
I cannot and will not ever be one of the members of this perfected family. The statement to me sounds as horrifying and egotistical as the belief of the Jews or any other dogmatic fanatical belief that they are ‘the chosen ones’. My free spirit cringes at the idea.
When Egypt and India were younger there was constant intercourse between them. They both in the opinion of the Theosophist, alike, but fate ruled that of the two, the Hindus only should preserve the old ideas among a living people. The ancient Egyptian and Hindu Theosophists never admitted a creation out of nothing, but have ever strenuously insisted upon evolution, but gradual stages, of the heterogeneous and differentiated, from the homogeneous and undifferentiated.
The cosmic and human chronology of the Hindus is laughed at by western Orientalists, yet they can furnish nothing better and are continually disagreeing with each other on the same subject.
Comment:
Disagreement seems to be a primary force of the human condition, where everything ends in political strife. What has esoteric science to do with money obsessed cultures? Why did it come to this and more to the point, what does it contribute to the Earth’s dilemma, practically collapsing under the weight of physical obsessed mankind.
Book continued;
Forever the great breath goes forward and returns again. As it proceeds outwards, worlds and men appear; as it recedes all disappear into the original source.
Comment:
The out-breathing of Life that ever ‘IS’ holds within its emanation all the material needed for the creation of worlds, gods and men. How does one become aware of that? There is a pause between the out breathing and in-breathing and that is where I feel, mortal life-experiences reveal the immortal within me. The more individuals hold on to the superficiality of the outer, the emptier the inner becomes. To get lost in a maze of desire is no excuse for not taking full responsibility of my action and reaction. That goes for my materialistic obligations as well as the well being of my inner self. To me the pause in between the in and out breathing represents the soil in which the mind-seedlings of formative life are sown and activated to grow and bring fruit. To become self-aware is to take full responsibility of that both, in action and reaction.
Book continued:
This is the prototype of our waking days and sleeping nights as men. Of our disappearance from the scene at the end of one little human life and our return again to take up the unfinished work in another life in a new day.
Comment:
This is where my way of thinking seems to differ. Physical incarnations are not separate from any after death states of the mind. As the inner man, always ‘I am’. Physical life only comes alive for me if I look at it as a symbolic language, in concrete terms it gives me an overview of Life’s continuous evolutionary struggle for expression. I perceive the inner planes as the flow, the outer as the ebb, symbol of a turning point for subjective-objective life burrowing deeper into its own true self.
Book continued:
The day of Brahma is said to last one thousand years, and his night is of equal length. In the Christian Bible is a verse saying that one day is as a thousand years to the Lord and a thousand years as one day. It would be of more value if construed to be a statement of the periodical coming forth for great days and nights of equal length of the universe of manifested worlds.
Comment:
The above has taken root in my mind. Growth follows understanding which in turn is food for thought. Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Noah, Moses etc. are not men, but represent the masks of Ages, each lasting round about two thousand years. They align to the science of Astrology, the seven cosmic rays, the seven principles within the human constitution unfolding into time and space to evolve in consciousness.
Book continued:
No mind can comprehend the infinite and absolute unknown, which has no beginning or end, shall have no end, which is both last and first , because, whether differentiated or withdrawn into itself, it ever is.
Comment:
Strangely I can comprehend the infinite and unknown, simply by knowing that the unknown is nothing unless it can reflect itself in the known. The difficulty lies in self-deception, it comes through personal, ego and cultural aggrandisement. We are all individuals locked in a battle of self-righteousness while life passes us by.
Book continued
Cosmic evolution, so far as it relates to this solar system, begins and occupies between one and two billions of years in evolving the very ethereal first matter before the astral kingdoms of mineral, vegetable, animal and men are possible. This second step takes some three hundred millions of years, and then still more material processes go forward for the production of the tangible kingdoms of nature including man. This covers over one and one-half billions of years. And the number of solar years in the present ‘human’ period is over eighteen millions of years.
Comment:
Here is a trap for the highly skilled and educated intellect. To get all involved in scientific, mathematical, religious and philosophical studies tends to dismiss the senses, even though they are the living breath of objective life on earth. Speculation and doctrines, information and discoveries do not bring about living experiences.
Book continued:
Wherever a world or worlds and systems are evolving, there the plan has been laid down in universal mind, the original force comes from spirit; the basis is matter, which is in fact invisible. Life sustains all the forms requiring life, and Akasa (light of the astral, world of the ‘Shining ones’) is the connecting link between matter on one side and spirit-matter on the other.
Comment:
Surely spirit, matter and life are the manifestation of everything. My vision is of a much more simple nature; the first building material is within my heart, formed by my unfolding mind and animated by soul-transforming power. That feeds the continuum of life on earth objectified. Akasa is made up of spirit-soul energies and mind-matter substance. How it manifests itself is up to individual life atoms and how they attune to the expanding universe theory. It can also be seen as every end holds within itself a new beginning, thus bringing all things together, no matter how far apart.
Book continued:
Theosophy alone, inclusive of all systems and every experience, gives the key, the plan, the doctrine, the truth.
Comment:
Why not simply say, the key to the truth lies within your own heart, mind and soul. It does not need anything but life that ever is revealing itself through you. Be aware of social orders,, partnerships, marital institutions etc. which sets the free spirit apart from individual evolutionary life. It takes a brave heart, an understanding of the interaction of psycho-mental and biological powers coupled with the spirit of individual and planetary karma to avoid the pitfalls of conforming to doctrines, ideal plans etc. that are but comfort zones for materialistic mankind.
Book continued:
Just as the universal evolution is septenary, so the evolution of humanity, seven fold in its constitution, is carried on upon a septenary Earth. This is spoken of in Theosophical literature as the Seven-fold Planetary Chain and is intimately connected with Man’s special evolution.
Comment:
If Man’s special evolution means ‘my’ innermost Self, as a seven-fold mediating consciousness acting as the link in that chain, then I feel that individual free will and choice should be highlighted, as a reminder that the user is responsible and answerable to no one and nothing but his own participation in it.. The ever mounting problem of physical identifying mankind should never be allowed to interfere with that…
The view put forward by Theosophy regarding the Earth’s, Human, Animal and other monads, is quite different from modern ideas, and in some things contrary to accepted theories. But the theories of today are not stable. They change with each century, while the Theosophical one never alters.
Comment:
Theories change with every new century, so you state. Surely because it corresponds to the outer, Nature’s laws adapting to the flow of seasons, time and ages. So does the inner nature of ‘Being’ adapt to the evolution of Karma unfolding from within out through the mind, heart and soul of man
A theory can never be anything but speculative because it has to adapt to life which is change everlasting. Therefore any theory that feels right for one individual might feel wrong for another. There is only one judge, the individual’s own relationship with it.
Book continued:
The Earth is one of seven globes in respect to man’s consciousness only, because when he functions on one of the seven he perceives it as a distinct globe and does not see the other six.
Comment:
That is only true if the mind puts on blinkers and cuts itself off from wholeness or continuum awareness.
Book continued:
The stream or mass of Egos which evolves on the seven globes of our chain is limited in number, yet the actual quantity is enormous. Though the universe is limitless and infinite, yet in any particular portion of Cosmos in which manifestation and evolution have begun there is a limit to the extent of manifestation and to the number of Egos engaged therein.
Comment:
In terms of consciousness, manifestation is involution, (to be born into space and time). Evolution is eternity-consciousness mediating and bringing dynamic equality into the space between spirit and matter by unfolding the seven principles from within out, which on the outer level can be observed as the expanding universe from measured time towards timelessness. Individually perceived it is the expansion of the ring pass not of incarnations, towards the evolution of the ego or eternity consciousness. The choice lies with every individual’s free will and choice, to rise above the mass of Egos or ‘life-wave’ strangled by compartmentalising feeling, thought and experiences.
Book continued:
Theosophy distinctly teaches that on the Americas is to be evolved the new-sixth-race; and here all the races of the earth are now engaged in a great amalgamation from which will result a very highly developed sub-race, after which others will be evolved by similar processes until the new one is completed.
Comment:
Isn’t that rather getting stuck in the circles of time on the physical level, highlighting the failure of the sovereignty of the sevenfold ‘Being’ of Earth and Humanity? Evolution is the guiding principle of transcendental unity, where nothing is left behind but the evolutionary pull forward and onward. Instead we have raped the Earth again and again, taken a hundredfold and given back nothing.
Book continued:
The ancient and true theory is, that no evolution is possible without the ‘monad’ as vivifying agent.
In the first stage there is neither animal nor vegetable, next comes the mineral when the whole mass hardens, the ‘monads’ all being imprisoned within.
Comment:
If the hardening is an emanation-creation of the spirit within, why is there the feeling of imprisonment?
Book continued:
The first monads emerge into vegetable forms which they construct themselves, and no animals yet appear. Next the first class of monads emerges from the vegetable and produces the animal, then the human astral and shadowy model, and we have minerals, vegetables, animals and future men, for the second and later classes are still evolving in the lower kingdoms. When the middle of the fourth round is reached no more monads emerge into the human stage and will not until a new planetary mass, reincarnated from ours, is made.
Human beings did not appear here in two sexes first. The first were of no sex, then they altered into hermaphrodite, and lastly separated into male and female. And this separation into male and female for human beings was over 18,000,000 years.
Comment:
It is time to live according to the intent of manifesting this evolutionary vivifying agent, the inner man. That is my right of ‘Being’. All around me might be chaos, my incarnation full of pain and sorrow, yet my one pointed concentration on growing from within out is towards the unification of all that which is separated. The key to that is soul-consciousness transcending the psycho-mental as well as the physical levels of life.
But when the true teaching is known it will be seen that the care of the soul, which is the self, is a vital matter requiring attention every day, and not to be deferred without grievous injury resulting to the whole man, both soul and body
When we place the soul between spirit and the body, we come very close to the necessity for looking into the question of the soul’s responsibility. This threefold scheme of the nature of man contains, in fact, the Theosophical teaching of his seven-fold constitution, because the four other divisions missing from the category can be found in the powers and functions of body and soul.
Comment:
In my mind there is no division. The first revelation of Self is soul-consciousness, it expresses itself right down to the physical level and differentiating individually but staying true to its source or origin its intent remains the evolution of life in Self-awareness. Ultimately time and space are only important in that they are sign-posts to the revelation of the One within the many, or the Macrocosm reflected in the microcosm.
May be there are too many teachings, theories and plans throughout history acting as a distraction away from the source. I personally have learned more by living every day for better or worse, listening to the needs of my body as well as aligning to inner food for thought which comes from many and often quite unexpected ways and directions. I do not belong to anything specific, but find myself attuning to anything that is not destructive to the planetary being struggling to evolve in tune with my own spirit within, will of life to be and evolve.
The human body is considered by the Masters of Wisdom to be the most transitory, impermanent, and illusionary of the whole series of constituents, and illusionary of the whole series of continuants in man. The cell is an illusion. It is merely a word, it has no existence.
Comment:
To my mind the physical level is no more an illusion than are the psychological states of physical life; a glimpse behind the worlds of formation and activity. The word made flesh, the testament of the soul of time in space objectified to its smallest detail in life on Earth.
Life to me is spirit-will seeking its opposite, matter. That is the essence of the creative principle within the universe which expresses itself through the soul of man. Unfolding human and elemental mind-principles is sevenfold. Unless the unit is fulfilled nothing truly exists and ‘Being is a forgotten dream-ideal.
Book continued:
There are many names for the astral body, and its the best one of all. Ethereal, phantom, wraith, apparition, doppelganger, personal man, irrational soul, animal soul, spook, devil, demon. Some of these only apply to the astral body when devoid of the corpus after death.
Devil and Elementary are nearly synonymous. When it is released from the body and the mind, it is thus separated from conscience, and is a devil in their estimation. They are not far wrong, if we abolish the old notion that a devil is an angel fallen from heaven, for this bodily devil is something which rises from the earth.
Comment:
The soul of man manifests as a twin-soul and mind, human and elemental. Manifesting in dynamic equilibrium they tell the story in elemental life-forms of the unfolding human mind reflecting the universal mind. They need to work together in dynamic harmony if they are to objectify an inner, living, breathing reality clothed in thought-formative substance, activated by the evolution of consciousness. It is only the personalised devil, god or individual, that distorts the seven octaves and fourfold picturesque panorama of Nature.
The brain-mind is in constant contact with the astral and mental worlds, it is the computer that sets the record of their existence, whether dead or alive, in my waking or sleeping state I am aware of that simple fact.
Book continued:
In the ordinary man who has not been trained in practical occultism or who has not the faculty by birth, the astral body cannot go more than a few feet from the physical one. It is a part of that physical body; it sustains it and is incorporated in it just as the fibres of the mango are all through that fruit. But there are those who, by reason of practices pursued in former lives on the earth, have a power born with them of unconsciously sending out the astral body. These are mediums, some seers, and many hysterical, cataleptic and scrofulous people. Those who have trained themselves by a long course of excessively hard discipline which reaches to the moral and mental nature and quite beyond the power of the average man of the day, can use the astral form at will, for they have gotten completely over the delusion that the physical body is a permanent part of them, and, besides, they have learned the chemical and electrical laws governing in this matter.
Comment:
In my observations the ordinary man as well as the trained occultist is guilty of the misuse of astral or psychic powers. The latter by objectifying a trained over-dominant manipulation of the subjective nature within him and all around him, breathing through the Nature. There is no excuse in this day and age for making no effort ‘to know’ or suffering from an over-grown ego seemingly knowing too much.
Unless the two meet, subjective-objective mind energies, instinct and intellect, elemental and human, forming the astral or desire body, working as one, natural man lives in confusion and at cross purposes, not only with himself, but the Earth and the Solar system as a whole.
Book continued:
The Theosophical philosophy does not deny the facts proven in spiritualistic ‘séances’, but it gives an explanation wholly opposed to that of the spiritualists.
Three explanations are offered:
First:
That the astral body of the living medium detaches itself from its corpus and assumes the appearance of the so called spirit, for one of the properties of the astral matter is the capacity to reflect an image existing unseen in ether.
Second:
The actual astral shell of the deceased, wholly devoid of his or her spirit and conscience, becomes visible and tangible when the condition of air and ether is such as to so alter the vibration of the molecules of the astral shell that it may become visible.
Third:
An unseen mass of electrical and magnetic matter is collected, and upon it is reflected out of the astral light a picture of any desired person either dead or living. This is taken to be the ‘spirit’ of such persons, but it is not, and has been justly called by H.P.B. A ‘psychological fraud’, because it pretends to be what it is not.
Comment:
We all live within the body of a greater ‘Being’. In this case I neither agree nor disagree with the Theosophists or the Spiritualists. The reason for that is that I live and breathe and have my being within my own inner Self or soul which animates the mental, astral and the physical aether as one dynamic continuum. My spirit-spark has access to all these levels. Using the soul as its vehicle, which in turn uses the mind and further on the astral as their vehicles of manifestation, my spirit is never apart from their unfolding when in the atmosphere of the five-fold human kingdom, it is at the same time in the fourfold astral and threefold positive-perceptive and collective energy-body, and the dual nature of the body of flesh which in reality is the concrete symbol of the seven-fold body of ‘Man’, one God of life on Earth.
Continuum awareness is to me, that which strives towards the revelation of the inner man. WE are all individually different in expression and evolution, what is good for one might be bad for another; we can only be judge of our own and never that of another. But acquiring wholeness awareness can bring us in touch with many others like-minded and agreeing to disagree with others.
Book continued:
The astral which are the real organs, do the seeing and hearing, and as all material objects are constantly in motion among their own atoms, the astral sight and hearing are not impeded, but work at a distance as great as the extension of the astral light or matter around and about the earth. Thus it was that the great seer Swedenborg saw houses burning in the city many miles off, and by the same means any clairvoyant of the day sees and hears at a distance.
Comment:
Just so, but that leaves it open for any individual to learn to trust and listen to its innermost self, whether that is with the help of Spiritualism, Theosophy, Theology, Philosophy, the arts, what matters is the end-result, clear seeing in his or her own karmic right. The truth lies within each one of us, whatever tools we use is up to us and none has the right to judge another or think his or her way is the right and only way. In the last analysis what counts is self-knowledge that is the very breath of continuum-awareness.
Trust no one, not even your own outer self, but learn to trust your free spirit within who forever sees both sides of the coin.
Chapter 6
Suggestions given by some of the Adepts gave the name kama-rupa to the fourth principle of man’s constitution. The reason was that in Sanskrit language Kama means ‘desire’, and as the idea intended to be conveyed was that the fourth principle was the body or mass of desires and passions, adding the Sanskrit word Rupa which means the body.
Comment:
That would apply to the number four, the fourth root race, principle, cosmic ray etc. as I see it as the objectification of the psycho-mental inner levels clothed in the substance of the lower mental and astral bodies. They live and have their essential being in the sea-fires of the unconscious and appear periodically in the four kingdoms on Earth. reflected in the animal kingdom but not in the other kingdoms of nature.
Book continued:
The west divides man into intellect, will, and feeling, but it is not understood whether the passions and desires constitute a principle in themselves.
I know that psychic powers are far more developed in eastern nations, but I am not impressed when they are used for physical phenomena. In my eyes that is as egotistical as brutal, materialistic men. Neither shows any knowledge of the human condition of which is a psychological problem, not a power game.
Book continued:
The fourth principle is the balance principle of the whole seven. It stands in the middle, and from it the ways go up or down. ‘It is the basis of action and the mover of the will (of formative thought, feeling and experiences analysed). As the old Hermetists say “Behind will stands desire”, whether we wish to do well or ill we have to first arouse within us the desire for our course.
Comment:
My course from a very young age has been; Potential creative expression, the desire of my will for life, both in its fleeting expressions through incarnations and its spiral-conscious-evolution on the inner planes.
If as I believe and know, self or wholeness awareness, manifests as the mediator on the inner as well as the outer worlds, my choice should ever be to balance between the two, or manifest as the fourth principle, the middle point between the seven-fold ‘Being’ which I am.
Book continued:
The desires and passions therefore have two aspects, the one being low and the other high. The fourth principle is like the sign Libra in the path of the Sun through the Zodiac. When the sun (who is the real man) reaches that sign he trembles, in the balance. If he goes back the worlds would be destroyed; If he goes onward the whole human race is lifted up to perfection.
Comment:
True man ever trembles in the balance, yet ancient and modern history would suggest, that he is forever going back and worlds are ever more efficiently destroyed.
Book continued:
During life the emplacement of the desires and passions may be strengthened, diminished or increased, debased or purified.
At death the astral body becomes a mere shell; for when a man dies his astral body and principle of passion and desire leave the physical in company and coalesce. It is then that the term Kama rupa may be applied. Although it is empty of mind and consciousness, it has powers of its own that can be exercised whenever the conditions permit.
Comment:
I can’t accept that. The mind lives on. It is only the brain, the biological and organic chemistry that falls back into physical life on earth. Physical humanity does not seem to accept that life is essentially communication. The brain is a concrete symbol of that communication, starting between spirit and matter, soul and mind, elemental and human, weaving the patterns of nature on the one hand and the psychic emotional and sensual nature of homo-sapiens on the other. Active intelligence weaves the web of life on inner and outer levels and since I look at Life as interactive, ceaseless communication which is anywhere and everywhere nothing is ever empty of mind or consciousness for me.

Conditions are furnished by the medium of the spiritualists and in every séance room, where the astral shells of deceased persons are always present to delude the sitters, whose powers of discrimination have been destroyed by wonderment. It is the devil of the Hindus and a worse enemy the poor medium could not have. As the mass of the desires and passions abandoned by the real person who has fled to ‘heaven’ and has no concern with the people left behind, least of all with séances and mediums. Hence, being devoid of the nobler soul, these desires and passions work only on the very lower part of the medium’s nature and stir up no good elements, but always the lower leanings of the being.
The development of the germs of mind, made man because it constituted the great differentiation. The God within begins with Manas or mind, it is the struggle between this god and the brute below which Theosophy speaks of and warns about. The lower principle is called bad because by comparison with the higher it is so, but still it is the basis of action.
For these reasons the old doctrines are given out again to satisfy the mind as it grows more and more, until at last, all dogmatism ends and the race is ready to face all problems, each man for himself, all working for the good of the whole, and that the end will be the perfecting of those who struggle to overcome the brute
Theosophy asks everyone to reflect whether to give way to the animal below or look up and be governed by the God within…
Comment:
The god within is the source, it has neither beginning nor end. That whichever is, cannot be classified, it is the centre point of all living things, differentiating in perception and conscious awareness, in that its energies can be abused, misplaced, deserted etc.
The god within has been deserted by men. That explains civilisations where the astral ocean of emotion is illustrated as comfort zones, love personalised and the psycho-mental worlds glorified, full of power addiction, ecstatic ego-trips to the extent of criminality and insanity. Everybody lives a lie, because nobody seems to have an understanding of what controls them`. They all look for themselves outside their own lives, comparing, achieving, learning, being taught, the endless search for the self outside, while life passes them by…
